Hi! You have received this first newsletter of the Center for Mediation, Peace, and Resolution of Conflict (CEMPROC) - International because someone, either one of our board members, volunteers, advisors, or Executive Director Jeff Pugh, thought you might be interested in learning about us. We are a new nonprofit organization based in Cumming, GA, USA, with an additional chapter in Quito, Ecuador, dedicated to the reduction of destructive, often violent, conflict in the United States and Latin America. You can find out more about CEMPROC, its leadership, and its programs at http://www.cemproc.org/, or in Spanish at http://www.ecuador.cemproc.org/ .

Over the past six months of its de facto existence (we are now an incorporated organization in the U.S.), CEMPROC has given six courses and seminars on effective and peaceful conflict resolution to organizational and community leaders in the United States and Ecuador. This training, which has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from the students, has planted seeds of change as it educates leaders in appropriate conflict resolution techniques, such as principled negotiation, open and healthy communication, and mediation. Next week, it will offer a series of conflict resolution programs to children in a low-income sector of south Quito, teaching tomorrow’s leaders about the importance of sharing, open communication, nonviolence, and mediation. In addition to these courses, CEMPROC is actively exploring and planning future programming, taking advantage of strategic partnerships with other organizations in order to deliver quality and useful programs.
