Dr. Brenda Vanegas Leon
 Dr. Brenda Vanegas is the Mediation Coordinator for the Committee for
Cooperation with the Interamerican Commission on Women (CECIM) and author of Human Rights and Gender
Equality in Mediation. She is a professor at the Catholic Unversity of Cuenca in Quito and the
Metropolitan University of Quito, and is a member of the board of the Association of Female Attorneys of
Ecuador. Dr. Vanegas has bachelor degrees in language and literature, political and social science; a
doctorate of jursiprudence, and is a specialist in family mediation. Her book received the MASC-RED award
for mediation, and she is a frequent lecture and speaker on human rights, gender equality, and peaceful
conflict resolution and mediation.
